What it is

The flexible tinnitus therapy function in binax hearing instruments is now more comprehensive than ever. In addition to the static therapy noises which can be chosen from a preset or be customized in up to 20 bands by the hearing care professional, wearers can now also choose from four nature-inspired ocean wave therapy sounds. As an alternative to the more artificial and static therapy noises, these new signals provide a more positive, soothing, and stress-relieving listening experience ideal for tinnitus patients who prefer a more natural therapy sound.

How it works

The four Ocean Wave sounds differ primarily in terms of the intensity and frequency of the modulation, or crashing ocean waves. They are named after different types of beaches.

Boulder Beach: This sound resembles bigger ocean waves that occur somewhat irregularly, and sometimes overlap. The overall impression is of a deep ocean breaking on a boulder beach.

Rocky Beach: This sound resembles ocean waves that occur rather regularly but often overlap, with a high noise floor. The overall impression is of shallow waters breaking on a rocky beach.

Sandy Beach: This sound resembles ocean waves that occur rather irregularly but don’t overlap. The overall impression is of a quiet deep ocean breaking on a sandy beach.

Pebble Beach: This sound resembles bigger ocean waves that occur rather regularly and don’t overlap. The overall impression is of a quiet deep ocean breaking on a pebble beach.

The overall level of these therapy signals can be adjusted. And just like the other static noise types, they can be mixed with the microphone signal as well.
